Sampdoria win Joan Gasper Trophy

A quick goal by Roberto Soriano in 2nd minute of the game become the only goal and winning goal for Sampdoria in Joan Gamper Trophy against Barcelona. We are not talking about Messi,Iniesta,Fabergas yes Vilanova only plays 'baby' Barcelona consist of young players however Barcelona new player like Jordi Alba and Alex Song are also playing in the match David Villa also playing for 70 minutes so it is a good thing for the Italian team.

Starts from a throw in on the right side defensive Barca, Pedro Obiang who gets the ball sent a cross ball right through the centre penalty area. Roberto Soriano runs from the back get in the centre and managed to get the ball by a diving header. No Barcelona players anticipate Soriano movement 1-0.

After the goal Barcelona dominate the game and tries to chase the score, several chance by Afellay unleash a powerfull shot in 42th minute from outside the box but the ball hits the bar. In the end of 90th minute the score is remain same and Sampdoria out for winner.


Joan Gamper Trophy is an unofficial tournament that is created as a tribute to former Barca president Joan Gamper. Since 1966, the Catalans have won it 35 times.

With this defeat, Barca ambition to wins the Joan Gamper Trophy for three years in a row is failed. For Sampdoria this was their first win in this event..
