Andriy Shevchenko - Serie A Legend


Andriy Shevchenko Ukrainian national team who played in Milan during seven seasons (1999-2006) has become history to the club. Shevchenko scored 175 goals from 296 games at Milan made him as second's highest goalscorer for the club under Gunnar Nordahl.

Shevchenko join Milan from Dynamo Kiev with a 25 million pound sterling transfer. Shevchenko wins many title with Milan starts with Champions League in 2002-2003 after defeating Milan's arch-rivals Juventus in the final by penalty shootout. Then in the 2003-2004 Sheva (Shevchenko's nickname) help Milan to win their Scudetto after five years. He also scored the winning goal against Porto at UEFA super cup to helps Milan gain their second trophy in the season. On 2006 Sheva left Milan to Chelsea with a breaking transfer record ( £30.8 million), however his career at Roman Abramovic's club did not goes well. Played three seasons at Chelsea, Sheva become the worst transfer that the club ever made. He only scored nine goals during his 46 games with Chelsea. This situation made him back to his former club AC Milan on loan in 2008-2009. However Sheva still not managed to return to his performance, during his loan period he was unable to scores any goal.


Sheva back to his former club Dynamo Kiev until his retirement, played 55 games and scored 23 goals. In Ukraine National team Sheva become the soul of the club, however he failed to bring his country to win any title during his football career.

Now Sheva is back to his country to becom a politician, this was an interesting career switch from a former footballer.This despite he had stated a month earlier he wanted to coach after his playing career, “This is the world I understand, the world I want to stay in"
